Tis a season

We did the Montessori stamp game again this time with a Christmas twist!

I printed the Christmas tree printable (see photo) from Confessions of a Homeschooler (but i tweaked it). I wrote numbers & the answers to our sums on it. N had to work on the sums, find the answers on the worksheet and color the spot.

I made our own Christmas printables. On this worksheet, Sonshine had to circle the different Christmas symbol in each row.

And tracing, printed from Confessions of a Homeschooler  as well.

More Xmas activities to come!

Love is in the air

We played some Valentine theme activities today!

We learn how to spell 'love'.

Valentine's puzzle!

I created this puzzle especially for Valentine's day. It's actually a bible memory verse. I thought i should kill 2 birds with 1 stone. This way, sonshine boy can play and learn a verse all at one go! I chose this verse because i wanted the boy to know that God's love for him will never fail.

Here's another printable puzzle i made. These are heart shapes with varying designs on them.

Sonshine boy had to match the hearts. I deliberately made it a tad challenging by creating similar but different designs on each heart.

I can't seem to find a book on counting by threes. So i cut out heart shapes and wrote the multiples of three on each heart, from 3 up to 30.

Sonshine boy unfolded and arrange them from the smallest to the biggest number. When the hearts are in order, we recited the multiples of three together.

Another printable that i made. Tracing heart shapes!

Once again, i will be happy to share my printables. It's only meant for home use, so please don't put them up for sale. If you decide to blog about it, do link it back to my site. Email me for the printables.

Happy Valentine's day!

Addition cards

N loves counting and that's why it has been easy teaching him how to add and substract. So far, he's been showing nothing less than keen interest in this subject. I've been using my fingers to teach him some sums & he has successfully learnt that 5+2=7 and 5+2=8. Now he can spout out the answers for these equations without the need for visual aids.

Instead of using my fingers, i thought i should make it more interesting for him.
So i made these cards from scratch.

I use them to 'play' with N additions

For instance, i would take the number 8 & 2 cards and asked N how much does 8+2 amounts to? He counts the total number of cows on the cards and select the correct answer card. This week, i am aiming to show him the equations that sums up to 10.

Unfortunately, N seems to prefer my fingers. :I All that effort in making the cards!

That aside, i am happy to share these cards with you- i call it my First free printables! But you'd have to cut, paste & laminate them yourself. I only ask that you don't sell my creation and if you intend to blog about it, do link it back to my site. Just email me at homeschool_sg@yahoo.com.sg for the printables. :)
